Obama Hates Blacks and Poor People

So suggests this post which uses census data to show how the poor and poor blacks in particular have suffered under this administration. Imagine for a moment how this kind of analysis would be touted from the rooftops if a Republican were president.

This comment is golden: "Obama is winning the War on Prosperity."

Obama Loves Rick Boucher

Which is a good reason to send Mr. Boucher into retirement.

A tool to check the power of the federal government

Here's something that Tennessee politicians should consider as well: an Article V call for a Constitutional convention to propose an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would allow for 2/3 of the states to nullify any act of Congress.

Two points: (1) You probably wouldn't need this if you repealed the 17th amendment (direct election of senators), and (2) You could probably count on Kent Williams to vote with the Democrats to make sure this never made it out of the Tennessee legislature.

Johnson City Mall makes Drudge Report

The Mall at Johnson City made the Drudge Report a few days ago for allegedly kicking out a vendor for selling anti-Obama merchandise. Needless to say, if this vendor was kicked out on these grounds, it is sickening to know this type of behavior has come to East Tennessee. To my knowledge, no one was ever kicked out for selling their anti-Bush wares.

What did The Mall have to lose from leaving this business in place? It received a few complaints. Big deal. No one could have legitimately believed that the views of a business owner in The Mall represented the views of The Mall. What they allegedly did is simply un-American.

John Quaintance has been all over this story on his radio show. I've heard the owner and the manager on the radio and both of them seem sincere with their story. They have set up a website and are apparently working out of their garage. The website is http://www.graphicedgeonline.com/. They also have a blog which has more information about their plight. The blog can be found at http://graphicedgeonline.wordpress.com/. I would encourage you to check this out and send some business their way. I'm not a bumper sticker person, but I really like a few of their bumper sticker designs. While it is difficult to pick a favorite, I would probably vote for the bumper sticker that says "That Obama sticker on your car might as well say, 'Yes, I'm stupid.'"

UPDATE: If you would like to send a comment to The Mall, their contact page is here.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Looks like The Mall at Johnson City has been certified as inoffensive.

Millions of your dollars spent to re-elect politicians

This is an outrage. (h/t Kleinheider). Millions of dollars are being spent on signs in construction zones that tout the stimulus bill. I recently saw one of these signs on a road that did not even need paving. Pure waste. If our government insists on wasting money, why not build some windmills or something that will eventually pay for itself? Why not rebuild a crumbling bridge instead of spending money on signs to re-elect incumbents? Why spend money to pave roads that don't need paving yet?

Who's the Best Liar in the Land?

Jeff Woods wants to know. Based on his nominations, I think the answer to his question may be as close to him as the nose on his face.

Tennessee Legislature Doing its Part to Keep Tennessee in Headlines

I'm sure the national media will have a field day lampooning Tennessee's "pull up your pants" legislation.

You mean government can't make gas cheaper?

Now the White House says that Bush can't do much about the high gas prices. No joke. About all the government manages to do for gas prices is make them go up by increasing regulation, decreasing allowed drilling, keeping refineries from opening, etc. But where are the Democrats on this? Nearly two years ago, they promised lower gas prices in order to get elected. Where are the lower gas prices? Those liars! Of course, only the stupid and ignorant believe that a politician has the power to deliver a lower gas price without screwing something up dramatically. The free market does not work like that. Of course, that won't stop the Democrats from pandering to the fools who believe that the government is the solution to every problem.

Learned something new today

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. The Democrats have done a great job of hiding their racist history. Still, they continue to push their racist agenda, from gun control to welfare.

Mainstream Media Continues to Show its Anti-War Bias

On the way to the office yesterday morning, I heard a news story on ABC News regarding the exploding rate of suicide among troops. One would be lead to believe that our troops were under so much stress that they were offing themselves at high rates. After delving into the numbers, it appears that the media is just pushing its anti-war agenda. It appears that the suicide rate for soldiers is actually less than for civilians, historically. Also, it could be a random spike in the data. I believe the sample size may be too small to be given much credence in any event. With a small sample, even a few deaths can cause the percentage to spike.

Bloggers are all over this, so the media may let the story die (as it should). The true story here is about the media suicide, not the Army. The media's credibility is already in the dumper and a few more stories like this won't help.

Well they are, you know, on the other side. I guess this is to be expected.

Punishment for Scooter Libby

Scooter Libby should get the same punishment that Bill Clinton got when he was less than truthful under oath. He lost his law license for five years. Clinton's lies were no less damaging; in fact, they were more damaging. Clinton was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice, the same charges of which Libby was criminally charged. The only reason that Clinton was not convicted in the Senate was pure politics and mismanagement of the process; guilt or innocence had little to do with it. If I recall correctly, 45 members of the Senate voted to convict him.

Libby should lose his law license and this idiotic prosecution should be put to rest. Much like Martha Stewart, Libby was convicted for lying about a crime that the prosecution cannot prove even happened. It seems to me if it is a criminal matter, the underlying crime should be proven before a conviction could be had on obstruction of justice charges. If no crime has been committed, hasn't justice been served and therefore not obstructed? As for perjury, if it takes dozens of witnesses for the prosecution to make its case, it seems that the prosecution has a problem. Most perjury cases are slam dunks; they are easy. This was not an easy case and reasonable minds could differ.

In order to win this, the prosecution needed to bring in someone who already had a tremendous reputation for credibility - Tim Russert. Russert could very well be lying, but his reputation makes him practically unassailable. He is the Walter Cronkite of our day and people are very much inclined to believe him. I think his testimony would make it very difficult to not prejudice the jury because of his reputation and his celebrity status.
