It depends on the question.

Time has a rather silly article with a rather silly headline: Is Al Gore the Answer? Well, it depends on the question. The answer is "yes" if the question is any one of the following:

  1. Which 2000 Presidential candidate lost the Florida vote no matter how many times it was recounted?
  2. Which 2000 Presidential candidate made a movie so full of inaccuracies that a judge in England set viewing guidelines before students could watch it?
  3. Which 2000 Presidential candidate would have won the election if he could have carried his home state?
  4. Which former Presidential candidate preaches from the church of global warming while sucking enough energy for his own home to light a small town?

The answer is "no" if the question is any one of the following:

  1. Which former Presidential candidate wanted to streamline regulation and reduce taxes so that the economy would grow?
  2. Which former Presidential candidate is not an environmental chicken-hawk opportunist?
  3. Which former Presidential candidate is willing to make personal sacrifices to help the environment?

Enough about Al Gore. The author is about par for the course in showing his liberal bias. Here are a few examples:

"Which is not to say that Clinton's candidacy is entirely without purpose now that she is pursuing a Republican-style race gambit, questioning Obama's 20-year relationship" with his pastor. Why, exactly, is this a "Republican-style" race gambit?

"and a year that should have been an easy Democratic victory, given the state of the economy and the unpopularity of the incumbent, might slip away. " Really?

I can't figure out if this guy is really concerned about the "easy Democratic victory" slipping away or if he is one of the many media morons who still can't get over the fact that Al Gore lost the election.

Red-Light Cameras

Hey, Johnson City, Kingsport and Bristol. Are you reading this? Cities in Tennessee have been caught shortening the yellow-lights in order to generate additional revenue. This is not about safety, it is about revenue. Any local politician who is in favor of these devices should be voted out of office (since tarring and feathering is not a realistic option).

More evidence that Obama cannot manage his own household finances

In keeping with the theme discussed in a prior post of Obama's failure to properly manage his household, it looks like he also failed to save for retirement. This guy appears to spend most of what he makes and it wasn't until recently that he had any earnings at all from investments. And he wants to manage your tax dollars.....

Looks like Obama missed the sermon on tithing, too.

One percent is not ten percent. I suppose Obama's failure to live up to his scriptural obligations will now be used to shield him from Jeremiah Wright's (Obama's nutty pastor) hate speech. Here is how it works. "Just as I missed all of Uncle Jeremiah's hate rhetoric, I missed his sermons on tithing as well. I really don't attend church as often as I should. It is because I have devoted my life to public service and to helping the little man."

The article takes great pains to mention that he gives about what the average American gives. So what? Should the next President be like the average American?

On top of his failure to give generously, he has next to no interest income. The Obamas blame all their problems on student loans. "If only the government had given them a free education...." I'm sorry, but even the most pathetic financial manager should have been able to generate more interest income over that period of time, simply by playing the float on the time between when his paychecks arrive and the due dates of his bills. Doing that is like picking up free money off the ground. This pathetic excuse for a Presidential candidate cannot even manage his own household efficiently. How can he possible manage our government?

It's called a lie.

When Republicans do it, it's called a lie. When Democrats do it, it is "mis-speaking."

ATV Ministry

Wow, this looks like fun. http://www.mountainviewatv.org. A friend of mine was telling me about this. It is an ATV ministry. An ATV ministry seems like an interesting way to bring new people into a church. This is close by (in Johnson City), so I might have to borrow a 4-wheeler and give it a go sometime.

How stupid does Reuters think we are?

This just takes the cake. Reuters claims they weren't misrepresenting Spitzer as a Republican; they were merely indicating that he was the person on the right side of the photograph. Liars, plain and simple.

Name that Party

I've noticed several stories about Eliot Spitzer that refuse to mention that he is a Democrat. Funny how the media do not want to tell the truth about that. Now, some of them have even gone so far as to label him as a Republican. Is it any wonder that these people aren't trusted. They are complete liars. Not only do they not deserve our respect, they deserve our contempt.
  1. Eliot Spitzer is a Democrat, you liars.
  2. Eliot Spitzer is a Democrat, you liars.
  3. Eliot Spitzer is a Democrat, you liars.
  4. Eliot Spitzer is a Democrat, you liars.
  5. Eliot Spitzer is a Democrat, you liars.
  6. Eliot Spitzer is a Democrat, you liars.

It is not a typo, people. It is not a typo.

You mean government can't make gas cheaper?

Now the White House says that Bush can't do much about the high gas prices. No joke. About all the government manages to do for gas prices is make them go up by increasing regulation, decreasing allowed drilling, keeping refineries from opening, etc. But where are the Democrats on this? Nearly two years ago, they promised lower gas prices in order to get elected. Where are the lower gas prices? Those liars! Of course, only the stupid and ignorant believe that a politician has the power to deliver a lower gas price without screwing something up dramatically. The free market does not work like that. Of course, that won't stop the Democrats from pandering to the fools who believe that the government is the solution to every problem.

Forced Government Indoctrination

In California, it is now essentially illegal to homeschool your children. This is a horrible decision. I think this quote from the judge sums it up nicely:

"A primary purpose of the educational system is to train school children in good
citizenship, patriotism and loyalty to the state and the nation as a means of
protecting the public welfare," the judge wrote, quoting from a 1961 case on a
similar issue.

We don't need government indoctrination in order to protect the public welfare. Of course, the teachers' unions are rejoicing in this decision.
