Class Action against Target
Well, it looks like a judge has allowed a class action lawsuit to proceed against Target because the Target website is alledgedly inaccessable to the blind. Lawuits like this are ridiculous. How long will it be before iTunes is sued for failure to make the music downloads it sells accessible to the deaf? Perhaps radio stations will be sued for the same reason. Marc Maurer ought to think about the can of worms he is opening up instead of admonishing that "All e-commerce businesses should take note of this decision and immediately take steps to open their doors to the blind." Perhaps if he gets his way, there won't be any e-commerce businesses. That will be greatly beneficial to the blind, right?
In the spirit of Mark Maurer, here is my admonishment to e-commerce businesses: "Perhaps all e-commerce businesses should take note of this decision and immediately take steps to lobby their government for a loser-pays tort system so that people like Marc Maurer and the National Federation for the Blind will think long and hard about bringing stupid lawsuits like this one."
