Is Obama's Middle Name his Greatest Strength?

Ah, the kerfuffle about calling Barack Hussein Obama, Barack Hussein Obama. It occurs to me that his middle name may be his greatest strength in this election. The die is cast that anyone who mentions his middle name is automatically branded as a kook and implicitly branded as a bigot. It has been called "a tactic used by critics who insist that Obama is really a Muslim" the implication being that this tactic is being used to keep bigots from voting for Obama.

People will continue to use his middle name as long as he is a political figure (just like they have for any other politician running for the highest office). Some will use it just to piss of the left. The problem is that now, every time it is used, the left can rally around Obama and "come to his defense." They can imply that the use of the middle name is bigoted without raising the race card (bigotry being the worst possible crime in America). Every time Hussein is used, there will be an outcry and once again a full discussion of this man's fully far-left divisive record (to the extent it exists) will be avoided.

These people can't win on the issues and they know it. They will spend their time focusing on middle names and whether "America is ready" for a black president, etc. The fact that he has come this far in the process is ample proof that America is not denying him the opportunity. If he loses, it won't be because of his race. It will be because people figure out that a cut and run, divisive socialist with no record of accomplishments is not worthy of the job of President.

Bloomberg is out

Good news for a change. Or maybe not. I dislike him intensely due to his untenable position on gun rights. The only bad part about it is that I suspect he would take more votes away from the Democrat than from the Republican.

In case you needed another reason to not like Obama

"Nation of Islam" Minister Louis Farrakhan is singing Obama's praises. I cannot believe such a blatant racist continues to garner media attention. Nevermind. Yes I can.

Learned something new today

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. The Democrats have done a great job of hiding their racist history. Still, they continue to push their racist agenda, from gun control to welfare.

Most important story of 2008 so far

The most important story so far this year may very well turn out to be the Navy's direct hit on the spy satellite. This could very well start a new arms race. More importantly, it could give our enemies something to think about. Congratulations, U.S. Navy. It should be a proud day for America but our interenal enemies will see to it that it is not. I have little doubt that the Russians and the Chinese are in scramble mode because of this.

What is a mania, anyway?

I've heard about enough of Obamamania until I realized just how much sense it makes when using the appropriate definition.

-mania
a combining form of mania (megalomania); extended to mean “enthusiasm, often of an extreme and transient nature,” for that specified by the initial element (bibliomania). (emphasis added)

-mania
suff.
An abnormal compulsion or an extreme love for: pyromania. (emphasis added)

ma·ni·a n.
A manifestation of bipolar disorder characterized by profuse and rapidly changing ideas, exaggerated gaiety, and excessive physical activity. (emphasis added)

ma·nia n: excitement of psychotic proportions manifested by mental and physical hyperactivity, disorganization of behavior, and elevation of mood; (emphasis added)

While the suffix definitions are more appropriate, the definitions for the nouns don't seem too far off the mark. Something is not normal about this. Or this.

Obama defender has no defense

This could be one of the funniest videos I have ever seen. Via Instapundit:

Hillary will pull out all the stops.

Megan McCardle is flabberghasted that Hillary is considering a scheme to try and make sure she gets the nomination by finding a way for pledged delegates to vote for her. Let me be perfectly clear. There is nothing that the Clintons will not do to get re-elected. Yes, I said re-elected. She knows that this is her last realistic chance to be President. Her defeat will be viewed by many as the "End of the Clintons" and a statement about the legacy stench of the Clinton years. People, don't be fooled. She will stop at nothing. She does not care if the party is destroyed. If the Clintons believe that there is any chance for her (i.e., them) to get the nomination, no shenanigan is beneath them.

Personally, I want to see it tied up in court. The Democrats tend to prefer to use the judiciary as a solution to everything that they can't otherwise accomplish, but I have a feeling that letting the courts decide their internal policies might not sit too well with them. It would be the perfect irony - an internal struggle in the party about whether to disenfranchise voters who do not have a Constitutional right to vote on the matter to begin with.

White Men in a Pickle

What is a white man to do? It looks like I'm not the only one who thinks that we are being forced into a corner to potentially be branded as bigots. Here is a bit more on the Angry White Man. I am sure many non-white men have the same feelings as are set forth in the article. Anger is not a bad thing. We could use more of it, but the wussification of America tends to minimize it. Let's face it: the person who is working his tail off is doing it to support those who would destroy him. I will gladly put the future of this country in the hands of Angry White Man as described in the article, regardless of what you call him.

Obama can run, but he can't hide.

It's funny how the Internet insures that politicians can't get too far from their anti-gun history. Of course AP and it's fellow travelers like to say that Obama supports individual gun rights. Note that the prior post is now updated to show the new link. Yahoo or AP must have changed the headline. They changed much of the story at the old link. Here is the new link, with my more aptly named headline:

Obama and Willing Accomplices Hide Obama's Gun Rights Position

Hillary's best photo yet

I would say Sieg Heil about sums it up.

Obama's Gun Control Position

According to this headline on Yahoo news, "Obama supports individual gun rights." What a complete load of bull. He supports individual rights as long as the government controls every aspect of the right. That is not a right at all. That is a mirage. Neither he nor his willing accomplices in the media get away with such a twist on the reality of his gun rights position.

Apparently, he doesn't want to take ALL guns, just those that look scary (regardless of their functionality). Also, he wants to make it so expensive to buy bullets that the RKBA would be near meaningless. In this same article, it is mentioned that he supports DC's TOTAL HANDGUN BAN. Yeah, he's a real champion of our rights.

FEMA Trailers

Would someone please tell me why these people are still living in government-owned trailers a full two years after Hurricane Katrina? It has been two years people. Why are you still living on the government (i.e., my) dime? The government could have paid to move these people anywhere in the country for less money. I hear that there are jobs that Americans won't do. Well, if you don't have a place to live, it is time to get a job doing whatever you can find someone to pay you to do whether you like it or not. It is not "beneath you."

These people need to be evicted and not because of the formaldehyde, but because they need to be given a time frame for getting a job and becoming independent. Instead, our brilliant government moves them to hotels. After all, taxpayers have plenty of money.

Is Carnival of the Capitalists Dead?

Carnival of the Capitalists used to be about the best carnival on the web, IMO. It still is whenever it comes up. However, since the shift to a sole host, Carnival of the Capitalists appears to on its last legs. Here it is, Wednesday, and Monday's edition is still not posted. The recent editions at the homepage have been less than stellar. Ironically, it appears that one of the main reasons making the homepage the sole location for Carnival of the Capitalists was quality control. It is a shame to see this carnival take such a fall. One of the things I depend on in a carnival is its regularity. If I have to keep coming back for days to check on it, I am more likely to forget about it and stop coming.

Speaking of Polls

The Johnson City dePressed has their own clearly biased poll. Their current home page has a poll question which asks "Should state legislators appove a bill to allow people with conceal-carry handgun permits to take their weapons into bars?" The very wording of the question colors the issue. In fact, the bill before the Tennessee legislature does allow law-abiding citizen to carry their weapons into bars but that isn't the purpose of the proposed law. The purpose is primarily to allow them to take their weapons into restaurants. Currently, Tennessee permit holders are not permitted to carry their weapon into any restaurant that serves alcohol. That means they must either (i) leave their gun in the car (which subjects it to theft by those who are clearly non-law-abiding), (ii) leave it at home (which defeats the purpose of concealed carry) or (iii) break the law (unlikely with this group). The key fact that this liberal rag leaves out is that the proposed law forbids the person carrying the weapon from drinking alcohol. The fair implication of their question is that the legislature is allowing drunks to go armed when that is not the case at all. If the poll is still there when you read this, go vote appropriately. I'm glad I ended my subscription to the Johnson City Press. I decided that I could no longer stomach its agenda and that I no longer had a use for so much animal cage liner. All that waste is bad for the environment. Hey, there is something the dePressed ought to be able to get their arms around!

National Park Carry Poll

It is insane that a law-abiding citizen can scarcely drive through a national park (owned by the people) without being branded a criminal. It is time to end the insanity that prohibits people from exercising their civil rights inside a park owned by the people. I encourage you to go and vote "yes" in this poll.
